Cuticle Care

By Kimberly –Glamour Secrets Beauty Bar

Cuticles play an important part in the overall health of your nails. They act as a protective barrier for the fast growing soft keratin that eventually becomes your nails. Keratin is a fibrous protein forming the main structural constituent of nails.

If your cuticles are neglected they may become damaged, dry and harden. This will cause discomfort and pain and could lead to infection that will impact the overall health of your nail and will lead to them being soft, discolored or misshaped.

1.) KEEP THEM STRONG
Healthy treatments = Healthy nails. Your cuticles need regular moisturizing just like your skin to maintain their health and structure. Use cuticle oil, cuticle conditioner or coconut oil regularly between manicures to keep them healthy and strong.

2.) LEAVE IT TO THE PROFFESIONALS
Are you tempted to cut, bite, clip or trim your cuticles? DON’T! Cutting or trimming cuticles at home increases the chances of breaking the protective barrier, and allowing germs to enter and infect the cuticle or nail area. It is crucial that you go to a professional who understands how to provide a safe and healthy manicure service without damaging the cuticle.

3.) SUSPECT YOU HAVE A CUTICLE INFECTION?
If you suspect you have a cuticle infection, go to the doctor. Doctors can easily treat cuticle infection with antibacterial and anti-fungal treatment.
